Aluminium 7050 is a high-strength, heat-treatable alloy primarily made up of aluminum, zinc (5.7–6.7%), magnesium (1.9–2.6%), and copper (2.0–2.6%), along with trace amounts of zirconium and chromium. This alloy is celebrated for its outstanding mechanical properties, boasting a tensile strength of about 83 ksi (572 MPa) and a yield strength of roughly 73 ksi (503 MPa). It exhibits remarkable resistance to stress corrosion cracking and good fracture toughness, particularly in thicker sections. Its ability to maintain strength at elevated temperatures and enhanced toughness compared to 7075 makes it a top choice for demanding engineering applications.
