Aluminium 5005 is an aluminium-magnesium alloy that consists of about 97.5% aluminium, along with 0.5%–1.1% magnesium and trace amounts of elements like iron, silicon, copper, and manganese. This alloy is known for its outstanding corrosion resistance, especially in marine and industrial settings, as well as its good weldability and formability. It has moderate mechanical strength, with typical tensile strength ranging from 145 to 190 MPa and a yield strength of around 110 MPa. Additionally, Aluminium 5005 shines during anodizing, resulting in an attractive surface finish that makes it perfect for both functional and decorative uses across various engineering fields.

Aluminum 5005 offers excellent corrosion resistance, good weldability, formability, and moderate strength, making it ideal for custom forgings in architectural and marine applications, while providing a smooth, aesthetic finish.
Aluminum 5005 is not ideal for high-temperature forging applications. It has moderate strength and good corrosion resistance but lacks the high-temperature stability needed for forging processes.
Aluminum 5005 has good workability, allowing for easy forging. Its moderate strength and excellent corrosion resistance make it suitable for shaping, but it requires careful control of temperature to avoid cracking.
Aluminium 5005 forgings find their way into a wide range of applications due to their impressive balance of strength, corrosion resistance, and surface finish quality. You’ll often see them in architectural structures, facades, and decorative panels, thanks to their excellent response to anodizing. In marine settings, this alloy is prized for its ability to resist saltwater corrosion, making it ideal for boat fittings and coastal infrastructure. It’s also utilized in transportation components, signage, electrical enclosures, and household appliances. Its lightweight and machinable characteristics make it a go-to choice for manufacturers looking for efficiency, aesthetics, and durability.
