Aluminium 5052 forgings are primarily made up of aluminium (around 97.25%), along with magnesium (2.2%–2.8%) and chromium (0.15%–0.35%) to boost strength and corrosion resistance. This alloy, which isn’t heat-treatable, boasts excellent fatigue strength, good workability, and weldability. Typically, its mechanical properties feature a tensile strength between 210 to 260 MPa and a yield strength of about 130 to 200 MPa, depending on the temper. The elongation ranges from 7% to 12%. With moderate machinability, Aluminium 5052 is perfectly suited for high-performance applications that demand durability and dependable structural integrity.

Aluminum 5052 offers excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, good weldability, and formability. It's lightweight, durable, resistant to stress cracking, and performs well in marine and industrial environments, making it ideal for custom forgings.
Aluminum 5052 is not ideal for high-temperature forging applications due to its relatively low melting point and poor high-temperature strength. Alloys like 7075 or 2011 are better suited for such applications.
Aluminum 5052 has excellent workability, making it suitable for forging. Its low-to-medium strength, good corrosion resistance, and formability allow for ease in shaping, reducing the risk of cracking during forging.
Aluminium 5052 forgings find their way into various industries thanks to their strength, corrosion resistance, and formability. In the marine sector, they’re perfect for boat hulls, deck fittings, and marine hardware. In aerospace and automotive fields, they’re utilized in structural components, fuel tanks, and panels. Industrial uses include pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and piping systems, especially in chemical and food processing settings. The alloy’s resistance to saltwater corrosion makes it particularly ideal for coastal and offshore infrastructure. Plus, its attractive finish and ease of fabrication make it a favorite in architectural applications.
