Aluminium 1060 is a commercially pure aluminum alloy, boasting 99.6% aluminum along with trace amounts of iron, silicon, and copper. This high-purity blend provides it with remarkable corrosion resistance, excellent thermal and electrical conductivity, and good workability. However, it does have relatively lower mechanical strength compared to other aluminum alloys. Typical mechanical properties include a tensile strength ranging from 55 to 95 MPa and a yield strength of about 30 MPa, along with impressive ductility and a Brinell hardness of around 20 HB. Its softness and malleability make it perfect for forging into detailed shapes with smooth finishes.

Aluminum 1060 is not ideal for high-temperature forging applications due to its low strength and relatively low melting point. It is more suited for applications requiring excellent corrosion resistance and formability.
Aluminum 1060 offers high corrosion resistance, excellent workability, good weldability, and enhanced electrical conductivity, making it ideal for custom forgings in industries requiring lightweight, durable, and malleable components.
The forging process for Aluminium 1060 typically takes several hours, depending on the complexity of the part, with heating, shaping, and cooling stages. Each stage varies based on specifications.
Aluminium 1060 forgings find extensive use in industries that require lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and highly conductive materials. In the electrical sector, they are commonly used for bus bars, connectors, and conductor bars thanks to their outstanding conductivity. The automotive and transportation industries incorporate them into components where reducing weight is crucial, such as brackets and housings. They also make their way into cookware, HVAC systems, and signage due to their ease of fabrication and finishing. Furthermore, Aluminium 1060 is favored in architectural applications and chemical equipment, where durability against weathering and non-reactivity with various substances is essential.
